A capability earns its name through its result.

The important feature list is not a row of checkmarks. It is the set of inputs an operation accepts, the record or calculation it returns, and the conditions under which it refuses the request.

A validated ticket draft has a concrete shape.

The creation contract requires a subject, body and known surface. Priority is optional and defaults to normal. An optional reply address must satisfy the request schema. The authenticated caller supplies the owner identity through the route's context rather than choosing an arbitrary owner in this draft. These fields let the system describe a request without guessing its subject from an empty string.

Validation is a feature with a limited job. It refuses a blank subject or body and rejects values outside the allowed vocabulary. It does not verify the factual account. A well-formed sentence such as “The administration page never works” can still be an overstatement if the writer observed one attempt. The manual reporting practice is to describe the attempt and retain the uncertainty about other sessions.

A successful create operation calls the store and returns a ticket view. That is a materially different output from the static specimens on this site. The specimens contain no working submission control. A reader can use the structure to prepare a clearer request through their established process, but the example itself does not open a ticket, authenticate a user or provide an intake channel.

The legal-move table prevents a false shortcut.

The lifecycle distinguishes open, acknowledged, in progress, waiting on the reporter, resolved and closed. Its action table determines which next states are admitted. In particular, an open item can resolve directly; it cannot close directly. Resolved and closed items can reopen. These branches preserve useful differences without forcing every issue through the same ceremonial sequence.

Consider an adult office report about an unfamiliar dashboard label. A support colleague may establish the explanation immediately. The resolve action is admitted from open, so the workflow can represent that short piece of work. If someone requests close from open instead, the route returns an illegal-transition refusal. Neither branch should be described as automatically verifying the explanation supplied by the colleague.

The response to an illegal action includes the current state and requested action. Those details make the refusal actionable: the reader can compare the actual state with the intended step. Repeating the same invalid request is unlikely to make it meaningful. The right correction is to understand the intended record change, not to rename a button until the status looks complete.

Reopening also has a specific purpose. It permits renewed work from a terminal state. It does not silently erase the earlier resolution, guarantee a different answer or merge related incidents. A capability is clearer when its useful effect and its limits are described in the same account.

Manual assignment is a saved decision with a role gate.

The assignment route admits support_admin and account_manager roles and accepts an assignee reference or null. A successful store call returns the updated ticket view. The null option makes unassignment expressible without inventing a placeholder person. The role gate means the operation is not generally available to every requester who can describe the issue.

The operational assignment result separately identifies automatic selection as unprovisioned. There is no agent-roster source from which that feature could choose a least-loaded person. A manual decision is therefore the supported distinction to explain: a permitted caller supplies the reference, and the record reflects the admitted mutation. Automatic balancing, presence detection and background dispatch do not follow from that fact.

The practical objection is “Who decides if there is no automatic picker?” The human desk arrangement must answer it. For a fictional two-person support rotation, the colleagues can agree who takes the dashboard question and who remains available for other work. The product explanation should not pretend that this agreement was calculated by a service or that recording an assignee proves the person has started.

A returned value can describe a proposal, a record or a missing input.

Creation returns a computed support tier alongside the ticket view, but the computed value is not passed to the creation store as the ticket's tier. Escalation returns a rule result while saying persisted:false. Analytics returns available volume information while marking several other metrics unavailable. These are three different boundaries. Flattening them into “the system handles it” would conceal what the caller actually obtained.

The useful reading habit is to pair a field with its operation. Ask whether it came from a saved row, from a pure calculation or from an availability declaration. A number named tier can be informative without being evidence of a saved escalation. A field named applied inside an engine result can describe an effect without establishing a database mutation. A missing metric should remain missing rather than be converted to zero.

The same care applies to dates. Ticket detail exposes event timestamp fields, while the SLA projection supplies null response and resolution stamps to its calculation. The detail surface and report can therefore disagree in completeness without either field being a substitute for the other. A report's own inputs determine what it can measure.

For a person preparing an operational review, this distinction prevents a misleading slide. The review can list the ticket state, the manual assignment, the proposed escalation and the unavailable measurement separately. It should not present all four as completed service actions. The feature is useful to the extent that the reader can tell what changed.

The off state is part of the capability account.

The ticket creation response marks AI triage disabled. The assignment response marks automatic agent selection unprovisioned. Escalation's result is not persisted, and the satisfaction acceptance branch does not store a response. These are explicit current boundaries, not settings this marketing page offers to switch. There is no control here that enables the missing service.

A satisfaction request also has an eligibility check. With null terminal timestamps in the current projection, the caller can be refused before an accepted response is returned. It would be misleading to describe the route simply as a working post-resolution survey. Validation code and a possible acceptance shape do not establish a durable feedback workflow.

If one of these boundaries is central to a team's requirement, name it in a product inquiry. “We need automatic assignment from a staff roster” is a useful scope statement precisely because the described operation does not provide it. Contacting the team does not satisfy the requirement, provision a roster or commit to an activation date.

Evaluate the example you actually need to complete.

A sensible evaluation starts with one adult operational issue and follows its required outcome. Does the team need a durable report of an empty dashboard panel? Does it need to record a manual assignee? Does it need evidence that an outgoing message was delivered? The first two questions relate to the described ticket operations. The third is not established by a status label or notification intent in these routes.

Write down the final evidence before evaluating the feature. A saved assignment calls for an updated record. A performance claim calls for valid measurement inputs. A sent-message claim calls for delivery evidence that this guide does not supply. That turns an abstract feature discussion into a review of the actual work, with a clear stopping point when the required result is absent.

Take the relevant boundary into the conversation.
